Education Information



Scott County is made up of two school corporations, Scott County School District 1 centered in Austin and Scott County School District 2 centered in Scottsburg.

Scott County School District 1 operates Austin Elementary which was built in 1956 and remodeled in 1993; Austin Middle School which was remodeled in 1974-75 (Formerly the high school) and Austin High School built in 1972. The campus also includes a swimming pool. Thirteen new classrooms have recently been added to the elementary building including new art, music and band rooms. The boys gymnasium has recently been completely renovated and enlarged.

Scott County School District 2 is comprised of four elementary schools which have all received extensive recent remodeling, Scottsburg Middle School, also undergoing current remodeling, and Scottsburg High School. In addition to the academic program offered, District 2 enjoys an extensive music and athletic program which has produced state champions in both girl’s basketball and marching band competition in recent years.
